ABS designs and delivers groundworks that industrial and commercial sites can build on, literally. From engineered warehouse slabs and reinforcement to drainage, civils and surveys, we coordinate every stage under one accountable lead and in lock-step with follow-on trades (steel, racking, fit-out and M&E). Programmes are planned around pours and curing windows; QA covers rebar, levels, joints and compressive testing. RAMS, ITPs and handover packs come as standard, so tolerances are met, interfaces line up, and the floor you get is the floor you specified.

01.

Warehouse and production floors live or die on the slab. We deliver new-build and replacement slabs (permanent, semi-permanent or modular) designed to the duty, jointing approach and flatness/level tolerances you specify. Our method statements sequence prep, pours and curing to protect edges and control cracking, with clean interfaces to columns, door thresholds and service penetrations. Pour plans, concrete tickets and cube tests are included in the QA trail, and we coordinate with racking layouts and future cut-outs so today’s floor works for tomorrow’s operations.

The right reinforcement and insulation strategy ensures performance, longevity and energy efficiency. We install rebar and mesh to schedule, with bar chairs/spacers to maintain cover and tidy laps that pass inspection. Thermal requirements are built into the design with rigid insulation where specified, coordinated around load paths, penetrations and dowels. Our supervisors sign off each stage with photos and checklists so the pour proceeds on time and without surprises.

Surface water and process drainage must be robust, maintainable and compliant. We build ACO channels, French drains and foul connections to drawings, with falls and outfalls verified before cover-up. Manholes, gullies and rodding points are set out for real-world access, and we coordinate with slab edges, door thresholds and external levels so everything ties together. As-built records and test results are included in the handover pack.

Unknown services and obstructions can derail programmes. We perform CAT scanning and, where required, radar/utility surveys to locate live services before breaking ground. Findings are marked up on site and captured in drawings so penetrations, drainage and foundations can be set safely. This step reduces rework, prevents strikes and keeps the programme predictable.

Accuracy upstream pays off downstream. Our engineers set out to coordinates with verified benchmarks, then check levels and datums throughout prep and pour. QA includes density and compaction checks on sub-base, concrete cube tests, and post-pour level verification. Results are compiled into a handover pack that supports your sign-off and future maintenance.

External slabs, ramps and hardstand must marry neatly with doors, thresholds and drainage, and withstand traffic and weather. We deliver external pads and access routes with appropriate jointing, falls and finishes, tying levels into internal floors and ensuring water goes where it should. Coordination with kerbs, bollards, dock levellers and services keeps edges safe and durable.
Capabilities
Do you handle both design and installation for concrete slabs?
Yes. We can provide design-to-installation services, working with structural engineers to meet load-bearing requirements, reinforcement specifications, and finish tolerances such as FM1–FM3 flatness grades.
How do you ensure slab level and strength compliance?
We carry out pre-pour inspections, concrete cube testing, and post-pour laser level verification. Results are documented in the project QA pack to confirm compliance before handover.
Can groundworks be done while other construction trades are active on-site?
Yes. We plan and sequence groundworks around concurrent trades, using barrier zoning, signage and temporary access routes to maintain site safety and workflow continuity.
What type of drainage systems do you typically install?
We install ACO channels, French drains, foul and storm systems designed to match site topography and discharge rates. All systems are pressure-tested and handed over with as-built drawings and flow data.
